LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:
Basseterre, the capital of St. Kitts, is an original Caribbean town not yet taken over by tourism. The center is distinguished by a roundabout  called The Circus which is  guarded by a cast iron clock tower (The Berkeley Memorial) placed in the middle.

There is public parking at the north end of the beach

QUALITY OF BEACH:
Somewhat coarse, dark sand. A large rock outcropping is the sole distinguishing feature on this isolated beach of the southern peninsula.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
South Friar's Beach, due to its location on the Caribbean side of the island, claims calmer water than the northern side facing the Atlantic. This is probably the most popular beach on St. Kitts, yet it never seems crowded.
